Lifting The World's Largest Scoreboard: 450 Ton Frame of Massive Center-Hung Scoreboard Raised 90 Feet

It took 12 hours, but during that time span on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, the frame of the massive center-hung scoreboard at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington was raised 90 feet above the playing surface.   The frame weighs 450 tons, is 160 feet wide and 72 feet tall.  The width of the scoreboard stretches from one 20-yard line to the other 20-yard line making it the largest high-definition video screen in the world.

Because of the complexity and weight of the frame, workers needed the full 12 hours to raise the frame 90 feet, moving it 12 to 18 inches at a time with large hydraulic jacks.  Each of the 4 jacks had a 400-ton capacity.
